    DHI APPLICATION & MISSION

Mission Statement of the Dietrich Honors Institute
The Dietrich Honors Institute inspires and enriches Thiel College’s inclusive community of life-long learners with programs that foster inquiry, reflection, and growth. We challenge students to make discoveries and apply knowledge in new ways. In this way, the DHI prepares students to be responsible and purposeful leaders.

    Dietrich Honors Institute Program Description
The Dietrich Honors experience takes place in the classroom, on campus, and all around the world.

Dietrich Scholars take a distinctive honors core curriculum in place of Thiel’s general education requirements. These are student-driven classes in which you are encouraged to think across disciplinary boundaries and develop your own ideas. The honors courses culminate in a Dietrich Honors Thesis. This is an opportunity for you to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor to design your own research, creative, or applied project. These can be in your major or outside of it. They may combine your academic interests with co-curricular or life experiences. Thiel's Dietrich Scholars are part of a dynamic community. We have students in almost every major and with various interests: athletics, music, Greek life, and student government among others. Dietrich Honors Scholars are frequent campus leaders. Our DHI Student Leadership Board offers opportunities for students to shape the program and plan events. Dietrich Scholars can participate in special programming, cultural excursions, and weekend trips designed to prepare them to make an impact on the world. Other benefits of being a Dietrich Scholar include priority registration, which is helpful for building your schedule each semester, and access to the Dietrich Honors Experience Fund.

Dietrich Scholars are curious learners who want to reflect on big ideas and apply their knowledge in new ways in and out of the classroom. We hope you will want to be a part of this unique community at Thiel College. Completing this application does not commit you to attending Thiel College, although, of course, we hope you will.
